The Torch and Lincoln Electric enlighten the NHRA

They call him "The Torch." Paul Le Sage, Independent Motorsports Consultant for the Lincoln Electric Company, is the NHRA's go-to guy for welding. With Team Torch in the pit, the drag racing community knows that their safety is in good hands.

Le Sage is the exclusive welder of the NHRA. The rigorous demands that drag racing puts on drag racing machines makes his position all the more important. His 20-year welding career allows him to fully appreciate the importance of his job. He chose to ally himself with Lincoln Electric because they match his commitment to motorsports and welding technology. Le Sage says, "There isn't another welding manufacturer out there that participates on a daily basis to better the safety of auto racing and fulfill the needs of the teams."

Nothing symbolizes this participation better than a Lincoln Electric support trailer - it's in the Manufacturer's Midway at every NHRA national event. Lincoln also offers free motorsports welding classes and discounted welding equipment at the track. This commitment to the sport allows them to increase the safety of everyone at the track, as well build their brand awareness.

The five year relationship between Le Sage and Lincoln Electric has allowed Lincoln build a solid future for itself in motorsports, when they once had no presence at all. Le Page details the relationship: "That was the reality of it all in the beginning. I knew that I could bring them to that plateau and it allowed me to be able to work with a company that was committed to an area where I had spent my entire career."

In the Lincoln Electric support trailer, Le Sage demonstrates Lincoln Electric welding equipment and the techniques that make him invaluable to the drag racing community. "We have done a great job in educating racers by reassuring them that we have the best equipment out there, along with the best support," Le Sage explains, "It's not always the equipment that makes a great program, but the people that we have in the field who works with the teams."

In the pits, he's always ready to help teams from his Team Torch Chevy s-10 Xtreme Truck. His dedication, skill and welding finesse have changed people's ideas about the need for a welder. It's no longer an exotic luxury - it's a necessity.

Le Sage and Lincoln Electric have plans for the future of their relationship "to continue the expansion of our program and to show the consumer as well as the racer that we are 'Racing's #1 Choice in Welding.'"
